Meet Susan
My fascination with glass began at age 12 in a glass blowers shop in Disneyland.
That small gift of glass my grandparents bought me was the start of my interest and journey towards fused glass.
Years later, when my children were older, I took a class in stained glass. It fueled a desire to create and I jumped right into the world of glass and all its beauty. I eventually opened a small shop where I designed and made windows for customers' homes and taught classes.
I had the opportunity to learn about another technique called glass fusing. This requires placing glass pieces in a kiln and heating it to 1500 degrees. It allows the glass to soften just enough to fuse pieces together. I was hooked!! So I turned in my running pliers and soldering iron and bought a glass kiln.
For the past 20 years, I have enjoyed creating with fused glass. The pieces I make are a blend of shape, color and texture.
This journey would not have been the same without the wonderful help and encouragement from my husband. As an artist himself, he has inspired me in many ways and Iām forever grateful.
I thank the Lord every day for the opportunity to create pieces for others to enjoy.
